New Enhancements for EBSCOhost® Electronic Journals Service

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, U.S.A. – EBSCOhost® Electronic Journals Service (EJS) Enhanced now includes the availability of a new usage report for administrators, improved journal searching capabilities for end users and an upgrade to Athens authentication compliance.

The new Article-Level Activity usage report is available through the EJS Admin site. It allows administrators to determine EJS usage by department or fund code.

As a result of the journal searching enhancement, EJS end users no longer need to include leading articles (‘a,’ ‘and,’ or ‘the’) in their search entry. Journal titles that begin with one of these words will be listed in alphabetical order after dropping the ‘a,’ ‘and,’ or ‘the’ in the search results (example: The Journal of American Culture would appear as Journal of American Culture).

Effective immediately, Athens authentication for EJS meets the standards of compliance for the latest Athens release, version 3.6.

EJS handles electronic journal access and management needs. EJS Enhanced offers extensive features that help with e-journal management tasks such as tracking the registration status of e-journals, authentication assistance to facilitate both on-campus and remote access to e-journal content, automatic management of e-journal URLs and much more. EJS Enhanced serves as a consolidated gateway that allows users to search and link to (OpenURL supported) more than 11,800 journals and 5.8 million articles. EBSCO provides durable URLs for every journal, table of contents and article in EJS Enhanced. No URL maintenance by the library is required.
