EBSCOhost ® Electronic Journals Service Enhanced Expands Content
Five Publishers Sign Agreements to Add Their Metadata to EBSCO’s E-Journal Gateway

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, U.S.A., January 21, 2006 – Five publishers have recently signed agreements to add their metadata to EBSCOhost^® Electronic Journals Service Enhanced (EJS). These agreements will add 18 journals to the 12,728 titles currently accessible via the e-journal gateway, which provides access to more than 6.9 million articles, 1.9 million of which are available via pay-per-view.

The content for these journals is easily accessible at the article level, increasing visibility and usage of the journals. Further, the metadata is automatically included in EBSCO SmartLinks^™, which provides validated and rights-checked linking from citations in EBSCOhost databases to the full text found on EJS, in other EBSCOhost databases and e-journals from CrossRef-member publishers.

The publishers adding content are the American Counseling Association, Cooperative Education and Internship Association, International Hormesis Society, the Pan American Health Organization and Woodhead Publishing.

EJS handles electronic journal access and management needs. EJS Enhanced offers extensive features that help with e-journal management tasks such as tracking the registration status of e-journals, authentication assistance to facilitate both on-campus and remote access to e-journal content, automatic management of e-journal URLs and much more. EJS Enhanced serves as a consolidated gateway that allows users to search and link to OpenURL supported journals and articles. EBSCO provides durable URLs for every journal, table of contents and article in EJS Enhanced. No URL maintenance by the library is required.
