For an entire century, Granger's® has been the definitive source in English for locating anthologized poems on library shelves. Published originally in 1904, and currently in its 12th edition, the Columbia Granger's Poetry Database is now available via the renowned EBSCOhost search experience.

Columbia Granger's Poetry Database contains works of poetry found in anthologies, and volumes of collected works and selected works for individual poets. More than 400,000 poem citations and more than 50,000 full text poems that have stood the test of time from only the most renowned and respected poets are included in the database. Also included is bibliographic information for more than 1,800 anthologies, more than 1,100 commentaries and approximately 500 comprehensive biographies. A glossary is also provided in the Granger's database, giving users detailed definitions for almost 200 poetry specific terms.

In addition to traditional CustomLink capabilities inherent in EBSCOhost, additional hyperlinks exist in the database throughout the commentaries, biographies, and poem full text. Users can easily maneuver from poems to relevant commentary or detailed author biographies when appropriate. Furthermore, subscribers to both EBSCO's MagillOnLiterature Plus and Columbia Granger's Poetry Database can link from poem/poet records in the Magill database to related records in Granger's.

According to Gary Balentine, vice president of inside sales for EBSCO Publishing, the availability of the Granger's database has been long awaited. "When we first consummated a relationship with Columbia University Press to offer the Granger's database via EBSCOhost, we knew that it was not only going to fill a need for many of our customers, but that it was the foremost database of its kind." Balentine continued, "This is another instance where EBSCO is offering a high quality database in response to customer demand. In fact, the requests coming in for EBSCO to offer a database dedicated to the coverage of poetry and related works have been overwhelming. We feel strongly that the Granger's Poetry Database is far and away the best resource available to provide this type of information for our library customers."
