EBSCO Publishing is pleased to announce a new agreement with PAIS to distribute the OCLC PAIS International database online through the EBSCOhost® search interface.

The PAIS International database provides global coverage of public affairs and world issues, with an emphasis on practical information. Some topics covered are: affirmative action, AIDS, climate change, globalization, political persecution and weapon stockpiles, to name a few. It includes references to more than 514,000 journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, gray literature, research reports, Internet documents, conference reports and other sources from more than 120 countries, with materials in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. In addition, 4,200 web sites are included in PAIS International.

Each record includes a standard bibliographic citation, a short, informative mini-abstract and up to nine subject headings. The subject headings and abstracts are in English. Internet addresses are included for electronic documents, and e-mail, Web site addresses, phone & fax numbers are included in listings of publishers. Entries from peer-reviewed journals are also denoted.

EBSCO plans to release this database in early 2004. The addition of PAIS International to the list of important secondary databases available from EBSCO will provide libraries, researchers, students and others with another resource that is not only rich in content but also enhanced by the linking features built into all EBSCOhost databases.
