IPSWICH, Mass. — April 7, 2005 — With the recent release of Old Testament Abstracts Online via EBSCOhost ®, EBSCO Publishing continues to expand its collection of databases pertaining to religious studies. In addition to Old Testament Abstracts Online, EBSCO also offers the ATLA Religion Database ™ , ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials ™, Catholic Periodical and Literature Index (CPLI) Online, and Religion & Philosophy Collection ™.

Old Testament Abstracts Online is a product of a partnership between the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) and the Catholic Biblical Association. Old Testament Abstracts Online was previously available only in print or as a CD-ROM database. This important tool now benefits from the sophisticated search environment provided by EBSCOhost as well as from the increased accessibility that only an online implementation can provide.

The database features indexing and abstracts for journal articles, monographs, multi-author works, and software related to Old Testament studies. Content from more than 450 journals is covered. Topics include antiquities, archaeology, biblical theology, and philology. Coverage in the database dates back to 1978.

In addition, EBSCO Publishing plans to release New Testament Abstracts Online via EBSCOhost in the coming months. This database is produced by ATLA in partnership with the Weston Jesuit School of Theology.
